JANUARY 2021
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Although it isn’t off to a wonderful start, we hope this year will prove to be much better than last. Welcome to all the new owners who joined us last year. Under normal circumstances we would have been able to welcome you in person at a “meet-and-greet” social. Maybe in a few months we can do that. Holiday decorations at the entrance had to be scaled back this year due to the construction, but many homeowners made up for it with their own light displays and other decorations. Especially notable were the homes on Anchor circle. Thank you all!
ENTRANCE SIGN: Progress is being made, but obviously not quickly enough. The good news is, the electrical work, the final step, has just been started. When that is completed, the caps for the glass brick can be installed. Low voltage lights will illuminate the sign and the areas on both sides of the entrance.
LANDSCAPING: The landscape committee is returning to its walk-thru schedule of the 3rd Friday of the month, meeting at the pool parking lot at 10:30am. Any homeowner concerns should be submitted to Dana Pacific Management. The olive tree at the entrance was replaced as the original one was diseased. There was no additional cost to the association. The landscape committee is also working with our landscape company to solve the problem of gophers eating the plants on the south side of the entrance. During December a large number of trees were pruned. This was the 3rd year of a 3 year pruning cycle. The Board will be addressing our pruning needs for the future.
ASSOCIATION POOL AREA: As previously mentioned, the Board decided to replace the old malfunctioning solar panels. In addition, the wrought iron fencing around the area will be repaired and painted. The Board hopes to be able to select the contractors for these projects at their next meeting.
GENERAL REMINDERS: Parking for residents who cannot fit a car in their garage or driveway is white curbs only. This does not include oversized vehicles such as RV’s. If you have an item(s) for a charity to pick up, or a large pickup for the trash company, you may set it (them) out at the curb. Items for sale or “free” may not be set out, as individual garage sales are not allowed. When things return to “normal” we will once again have a community garage sale once or twice a year. ANY modifications to the exterior of your unit require an architectural application.
If you haven’t done so, go to our website www.captainshill.org, enter your email address and you will be notified whenever there is a new posting.
